1  Mathematics / Algebra / A Calculator Will be you BFF on: August 15, 2011, 10:56:11 pm
Teachers always try to make you not use Calculators, but some of the stuff you do in Algebra is going to be extremely hard without one. So this is a guide to how to use a Graphing Calculator. But since everybody is busy and I am starting school in a few days....this is coming soon :p
2  Mathematics / Algebra / Re: General Algebra Questions on: August 15, 2011, 10:48:13 pm
-4x + 7y = 144?

Step 1. Add 4x --> 7y=144+4x
Step 2. divide by 7 --> y=(144+4x)/7
Step 3. Graph, you can either graph online or on a graphing calculator.
3  General / Introduce Yourself / Rules! on: August 11, 2011, 07:58:05 pm
So the rules here are pretty simple, just create a thread explaining who you are. Though since we are expecting people to post new threads here a lot I am setting some lock/delete rules for us to follow.

*10 days of no posts=lock
*You have 5 days after your thread being locked to ask me to unlock it, after that it will be deleted.

As for everything else just follow regular S2S rules please.

-Des

PS: Any questions please shoot me a PM
4  Mathematics / Algebra / Algebra Equation of the Week! on: August 07, 2011, 09:48:22 pm
Each week I will post an equation through a picture. If you think you can solve it you can either send me a picture of you working it out, or you can just send me the answer. At the end of the week I will post quotes showing what you sent me and show you the answer of what I had worked out. Any answers posted here will be deleted, because I don't want people copying. I will probably post a few depending on the level of them, and you are welcome to do any you wish Cheesy

Just so you know, you wont get anything from these questions, they are just for fun.
5  Mathematics / Algebra / General Algebra Questions on: August 07, 2011, 09:41:07 pm
The title says it all. Just follow the rules and help your peers.

Just so you know, never give the actual answer to your peers. They need to learn how to do their math on their own, but with a little push. If I find that you have given an answer to somebody I will either edit out our post or delete it all together

7  Mathematics / Algebra / Rules! Must read please on: August 07, 2011, 09:30:57 pm
So the rules for this thread are pretty basic:

-Follow all other rules put in place by the site
-Keep all posts math related
-Start a thread at your discretion, though if you don't think you need a full thread then please post in the General Algebra Questions thread

So that is pretty much it. If you know an answer then help your peers please <3
8  General / Introduce Yourself / Re: Staff Introductions on: July 31, 2011, 11:27:31 pm
Hey, I am Des. I am 16 and am a Junior in High School. On S2SHH I am a tutor, and I will be helping you all with different areas. In school I mainly enjoy English and Math, though I don't always say I like Math because it just seems weird to me. I also enjoy art, but I admit that I am not that great. For six years I played bass with my school orchestra, though in my sophomore year I decided to quit. I had lost the muse I has once had at playing because I didn't get into a music school, though I now wish to follow my dream and become a Pediatrician. In my freshman year of high school I really enjoyed physics, though I was never very great when it came to actual equations.

Now off of the academic part of my school life....I play volleyball. I find that playing a sport really helps when it comes to my school life. You would think that playing a sport would make my grades go down, but I believe differently. Myself, and many of my friends, noticed that during the volleyball season we do better on our report cards, but when it is off season we tend to get B's and C's rather than A's. I think having a sport will help motivate students to do better in school, though only if you enjoy that sport. Also joining in a sport will also help you with physical exercise and most of the time you will go over that recommended 30 minutes a day.

So that is all that I can think of right now. If I think of any more stuff I will just add <3
