1  English / AP English / Rules and things we don't like on: August 16, 2011, 05:59:06 pm
Let's make this quick and easy and as painless as possible shall we?

1. Follow ALL rules for the site as well as this specific forum.

2. Be polite at all times. No question is a stupid question!

3. Stay on subject. This is the AP English forum so what you're talking about should deal with AP English.

4. Be patient. Some of us are tutoring in several different areas at once and will need some time to get things sorted out on occasion. Also, some of us haven't been in high school/AP English in... almost four years now so it might take time to get caught up with the changing times.

5. With that last one being said, if you have questions that will pertain to the literature part of AP English, please post the book you'll be reading at least a week in advanced so we can prepare accordingly.

6. ALWAYS have fun!

I'll add more to the rules as times goes on and I see things fit to be added. Thanks in advanced for your cooperation!

3  Social Studies / Government / We the people... on: August 08, 2011, 03:51:23 pm
Love to chat! But there's a special place for that... Each week, I, or one of the other tutors, will post a current event here that has to do with government and you will get to put in some input. HOWEVER, you must keep the rules in mind. If any rudeness or bashing of opinions occurs, I will shut this down and we will not continue with it. This is just a place to discuss how people feel about certain situations and voice their opinions. Anything more that happens and we're through. I'll allow for one overall warning but after that it's closed. Capiche? Good.

Topic 1 coming soon...
4  Social Studies / Government / The Constitution and Bill of Rights- Rules on: August 08, 2011, 03:43:09 pm
Welcome to the Government sections of S2SHH! Below you will find a list of a few rules pertaining to this section. It is asked that you read them over carefully and understand them before posting. If you have any questions or a rule is too vague/hard to understand, please do not hesitate to ask for clarification or help. Let's begin shall we?

The Golden Rule of this section: Be polite to everyone! People will post questions that you personally might find stupid or ridiculous. This does not give you the right to openly tell someone this. No question is a stupid question as chances are, there are probably other people out there who have the same question and are just too afraid to ask.

Follow all rules: It's asked that you follow ALL the site rules, as well as the rules for this specific section. If you do not, you will get a warning before worse consequences happen. Please, please, please do not let this happen as I certainly do not like having to give out warnings.

This is tagged along with the first rule: Both Government and Economics can have touchy, touchy subjects. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs, this does not mean you are allowed to bash someone else's. With this said, I ask that you leave the debating out of this forum and keep it to the Chat and Debate section of S2SHH.

We are here: To help others understand Governments better. What does this entail? No, I will not do your homework for you. This means I am not going to just openly give you the answers to your work. If you have a question, use the proper posting format (see below) and we will do the best to help you understand or give you thought provoking questions to help you formulate your own answer/opinion on the topic. Anyone caught openly just giving out the answers will receive a warning.

If you have a question: First make sure it hasn't already been asked, answered and discussed. There is a separate thread dedicated to that where you can find everything. If it hasn't already been done, post a new thread with your question. Make sure you try and explain your question as best as you can so we are able to help you.

Remember: We are not experts in this subject, we just know more about it to be able to help better. Please don't get mad or impatient with us if we take a little longer to help as there will be times when we're going to have to look into things ourselves.

And lastly: Have fun and be sure to keep things on topic. Anything out of topic, not having to do with a form of government will be closed and you will be warned. Accidents happen I understand but try not to do it.

Again, any question or concerns that you have, feel free to post here or send me a PM. The rules might change/be updated as we go along and issues occur so hang in there with me! (:

Name: Rie or Lacee but prefer Rie
Age: 21
Location: Texas and if you don't know where that is, you should see me so I can help you with geography! (;
Grade/year: I'm not sure why I'm making myself answer this when it's a little complicated. Basically, I'm suppose to be a Senior in college this year but due to changing majors a big trying to figure out what I really want to do with my life, I'm still a sophomore as I still have loads of credits I need to get for my major/minor.
Major/Minor: I'm currently and English Major (Writing and Literature) with a Minor in Mass Communications (specializing in Journalism, Photography, Graphic Design and Public Relations)
Other Majors I've tried: Music Education, Art (Specialization in Photography), History with minor in English for Education, Journalism
What I enjoy doing: My hobbies include but are not limited to: Singing (been in official choirs since 4th grade so 8 years in grade school and 2 in college), Playing guitar, Dancing (was on HS dance team), Creative Writing, Reading, Cupcake Decorating, Painting, Drawing and certainly my most favorite, Photography.
My current RL job: I'm a photographer and own my own business
My ultimate dream: To be a photographer for National Geographic.
Anything else: I'm very versatile when it comes to different subjects. I graduated HS 130/750. I HATE sciences so good luck with that and if you plan on pursuing anything that has to deal with that you're my hero! And I would say I'm pretty easy to get along with, so if you need help or advice, don't hesitate to PM me on here or if you have my MSN feel free to give me a poke! (:
